Sites, Teams, shared drives and Chat

Staged teams, migration mode, making them available.

6 min read

Team content — SharePoint sites and Teams, or shared drives and Chat spaces — moves from the Sites & Teams tab once the people in them are matched.

Teams: staged, then available

A team is created in the target in migration mode. That is the only way Microsoft lets channel history arrive with the original authors and timestamps. While a team is staged, nobody can use it — MigrateX imports channel history, then copies files. Delta passes keep a staged team current.

When the history is complete, tick the team and press Make selected teams available. The team leaves migration mode and gets its owners and members. After that, Microsoft accepts no more history, so run a final delta pass first.

Sites

Sites are provisioned with the same URL alias, title and template; Owners, Members and Visitors are mapped to target accounts; every document library streams like a drive. Custom lists, private channels and unsupported web parts are listed by name for follow-up.

Google Workspace

  • Shared drives are recreated with managers, contributors and viewers; content copies inside Google.
  • Chat spaces import in import mode the same way Teams do: history first, members when you complete them.
